CELF2016 Participant Profile: Jaydeene B

CELF2016 Participant Profile: Jaydeene B

Name: Jaydeene B

Location: London

About: Jaydeene is a local artist and henna artist from South London.

Despite having always had an interest in art, taking classes in pottery, painting, fine art and sculpting at 7 years old, it was at 13 that Jaydeene decided that she wanted to focus on art as a career. Now 15, Jaydeene spends her time honing her skills and perfecting her craft, with pencil art being her preferred medium at the moment.

With her whole career ahead of her, Jaydeene’s hopes for the future are to begin to create pieces that she can go on to sell. She’d also like to use her skills to become a tattoo artist.

My artwork is inspired by what I don’t see in the media or society. I believe that representation is very important. The main artist that inspires me is Markus Prime because of his diversity in body image. Now that I’m older, I realise that smaller children need role models and I think they should be able to see themselves in art.
